Acoustical Sound Insulation

Acoustical sound insulation can provide the perfect solution for limiting unwanted noise in a home or building. By using rigid and semi-rigid foam boards, and denser insulation material designed specifically for sound, we can create amazing results for anyone looking to quiet unwanted noise. Soundproofing works by reducing the transmission of unwanted sound waves that cause echoes and reverberation. Acoustical sound insulation is used in a wide variety of buildings and structures, including libraries, auditoriums, halls, courts, seminar rooms, etc.

Similar to air or water, sound travels in waves. While homeowners expect their rooms to be reasonably quiet, it is up to the builder to take special care to make this happen. If not done right the first time around, homeowners are likely to hear anything from snores in the next room over or the TV playing down the hall. Just as a draft travels through any holes or openings, sound does the same. As new homes are built larger, with bigger rooms and more open living spaces, the chance for increased noise level within the house increases as well. The best way to reduce noise traveling through rooms of a home is to install acoustical sound insulation during a home's initial construction. As this is not always the case, Knez is here to help fix the problem.

Knez Inc. can install products to reduce and cancel out the transference of noise from one room to the next. Watch TV in bed while the baby sleeps in the next room or keep the school marching band and the fans at the game and not in your living room. Keep the musician in the house actually in the basement and not at the dinner table. Do you have noisy neighbors or areas that are high in traffic? We can help keep your home both quiet and comfortable.

Consider these tips to reduce noise in your own home or building:

  • Make sure there are no gaps or holes in your insulation, or sound will easily flow through. Insulation should fit snugly and securely into place and should fill the entire wall cavity.

  • Make sure acoustic insulation is kept dry during shipping and storage before installation.

  • Using kraft flanges, staple insulation to the inside of the wall framing.

  • Carefully cut insulation with a utility knife to fit around obstructions such as pipes and electrical boxes.

  • All of our materials used are fire-resistant, minimizing the spread of flames and helping to ensure the safety of your home in the unlikely event that there is ever a fire.
